The Building Process

Kevin Slakey Custom Homes, Inc. is here to help you with your home or cabin building experience. From finding the perfect location, all the way to your first night stay.

We have several available lots, or we are more than happy to introduce you to the developers in the area. Once you’ve found the perfect location, we have several plans for you to choose from or we have an architect that will work with you to design the house of cabin that meets your wants and needs.

We pride ourselves on quality construction and we feel we meet these standards by utilizing the same team of highly qualified sub-contractors each time.

I am more than happy to meet with you and discuss ideas and concerns and help you along in the building process.

Below is a typical order of steps in the construction of your home/cabin that may help you when making decisions or purchases. These steps can change at the discretion of the builder in order to keep the flow of the building process moving forward.

-Plans

-Foundation: Pier and beam- wood and/or tile; Concrete- Stain or other (Need to think of stain colors for later.)

-Septic (A perk test will be performed and according to outcome and number of bedrooms, it will depend on what must be installed: either regular septic or aerobic)

-Rough in Plumbing (Types of tub/showers)

-Framing

-Windows

-Outside Siding

-Stone

-Fireplaces

-Doors

-Cabinets (When measuring cabinets, you will need to take into consideration sinks, types of shelving such as floating, and types of appliances.)

-Wall Board- (Paint or staining wall board could incur extra costs, so please ask.)

-Trim Color

-Trim Carpenter

-Tile (Will be measured by installer and measurements given to you so you can order.)

-Type of porch rails
